Wegman valves offers various types of gate valves
Wedge gate valves are mostly metal to metal sealing valves where the wedge is screwed down until it is stopped by the seats which are placed under a slight angle.
Smaller valves typically have a solid wedge, where bigger ones have a “flexible” wedge. The wedge is flexible so it can it can adapt to the seats without requiring to much force or to have a (quicker) sealing between gate and seat.
Various design variations are possible: bolted bonnet (the most common), welded bonnet for high pressure forged gate valves, the cast equivalent is a pressure sealed bonnet.
Standards typically used with gate valves:
API 600 the standard for cast gate valves 1”-24”
API 602 the standard for forged gate valves ¼”-4”
API 603 the standard for corrosion resistant light wall gate valves ½”-24”
BS 1414 the Britsh Standard for gate valve (replaced by EN ISO 10434) ¼”-24”
EN ISO 15761 the European standard for forged gate valves ¼”-4”
